Product Description

Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich sounds the warning bell that communist-ruled China poses the biggest threat to the United States that we have seen in our lifetime. The United States is currently engaged in a competition with the Chinese government unlike any other that we have witnessed before. This is a competition between the American system—which is governed by freedom and the rule of law—and a totalitarian dictatorship that is controlled by the Chinese Communist Party. These are two different visions for the future; one will succeed, and one will fail.It is possible for America to respond to the Chinese Communist Party's efforts, but doing so will require new thinking, many big changes, and many hard choices for our leaders in government and private sector.Newt Gingrich's Trump vs. China serves as a rallying cry for the American people and a plan of action for our leaders in government and the private sector. Written in a language that every American can understand but still rich in detail and accurate in fact, Trump vs. China exposes the Chinese Communist Party's multi-pronged threat against the United States and what we must do as a country to survive.

This book is a must read for any thinking American who is concerned for the future of our country. The title "Trump vs. China" shows that Gingrich recognizes the efforts Trump has made to shed light on the China situation as it relates to their competing with the US. This credit to the president is appropriate since Trump is the first president in recent memory to try to come to grips with the situation. Unfortunately, Trumps tends not to have staying power and has appeared to relax the pressure as he considers the politics of the next election. (For example, the phase one trade agreement about to be signed does not de very much.) The lack of continued pressure on the very important issues of Intellectual property theft, wholesale supply of fentanyl, and the rest of the so-called “seven deadly sins” allows China to pretty much continue business as usual. But the Gingrich book does a lot more that give kudos to the president. In chapter after chapter, the author provides in depth analyses of the ways in which China is eating, or about to eat our lunch. And they are doing it in the typically subtle and incremental Chinese way that attracts too little attention by the rest of the world in general and the US in particular. An example is the near complete Chinese take-over of the South China Sea with their building and militarizing islands in territory that in fact belongs to other nations. There are many more examples: the Belt & Road initiative, their steadily increasing and successful efforts in space, the soft power program in establishing the Confucius institutes around the world, and on and on.This book is well researched and the findings well documented. One example of supporting information is Michael Pillsbury’s "The Hundred-Year Marathon." Gingrich acknowledges this book as having a great influence on his thinking about the China problem. Anyone interested in China and where it is going will profit greatly by reading Pillsbury’s superb book. The biggest problem I had in getting through the book is that I became increasingly depressed, because I can see no real way out of the deep hole we find ourselves in. Gingrich thinks that the American people can make a difference, if they will make the grass roots effort. I don’t see us making the required effort. At 87 years of age, I can soon stop worrying about it. But I truly fear for our beloved country. Gingrich is to be sincerely thanked for his wonderful effort in shining a bright light on China. One can only hope that our leaders will read his book and take it to heart.
