Wide Awake in America is a four-track EP by the Irish rock band U2, released in 1985. It combines two live performances of songs from the group's 1984 album The Unforgettable Fire with two B-sides from the era, which had previously been available only in the United Kingdom. Featuring 'Bad (Live)', 'A Sort of Homecoming (Live)', 'The Three Sunrises', and 'Love Comes Tumbling'. Pressed on 180G vinyl.
The four songs on this CD are beautiful and perfect. The two live songs carry more weight than the studio songs. But, that is not a knock on the studio songs. Live songs always have more passion from the people playing them. That is especially true of U2. Bono came in and took over the band from Larry Mullen, the drummer when they first came together. Larry had started a band and it was his band. When Bono came in as a lead singer, Larry could tell right away that Bono's passion and charisma would rule the day. He was right and the band carries on to this day as one of the greatest bands in history. Just think. Not one band member has left the band since their first recording. Phenomenal.
