In my opinion, this is the definitive Captain America figure. Adapted from his classic comic book look, I prefer it over the multiple variant costumes, Ultimate version and cinematic versions. Although his first appearance costume was slightly different with a different shield, it's this version that's been the most prevalent in the comics and the one I grew up with. That said, on to the figure itself. The body mold is perfect, in my opinion. Hasbro routinely uses the same repainted body molds for multiple figures, so I am unsure how many other characters utilize this mold, but it works perfectly for Cap. His belt is also actually a separate piece and not sculpted to his body, which is a really nice subtle detail. Joints and articulation work nicely, with the only drawback being on his shoulder ball joints. Those are the only stiff points (at least on my particular figure) and with multiple movements they tend to grind against the chest piece, which will likely eventually wear the paint by the armpits or at the shoulders. Sadly, as he is a mold used for multiple figures, it's evident that Hasbro went the cheap route and did not sculpt the 'eagle feathers' to Cap's chest and upper arms and so his upper body is smooth. This prevents him from being a perfect comic representation, design wise.As for his shield and accessories, he comes with another set of hands: a 'salute' and a pointed finger. These work nice and add a patriotic feel to the figure which is a good reflection of the Steve Rogers character. Also comes with the Cap Wolf head (a character I have never heard of and so is pretty worthless to me). But in itself, it's a cool extra sculpt. I would've preferred an unmasked Steve Rogers head, but if you really wanted to you could swap one from a different Ultimate version of the figure which fits. I have absolutely no idea what the purple accessory is that he comes with, so it's neither here nor there for me. And finally we have the shoulder straps that a lot of reviewers comment on. They look nice, but do not stay on unless you have the figure posed straight with his arms down. These evidently are supposed to appear like they're attached to Cap's shield, but again I suspect Hasbro went the cheap route and used a basic plastic shield for mass production, and so they are separate pieces which make them problematic when trying to get them to stay on. That brings me to the shield itself. Basic plastic piece here. It seems to be painted nicely and has a wrist clamp that swivels with an attached peg that you can insert into Cap's back to hold his shield just like in the comics. It stays in place nicely. I've seen complaints about the shield's size being a little too small, which it is if you compare it to the comics. But in proportion to the figure, it works fine. This is nitpicking, but I think there have been much better versions of the shield made for other Cap figures over the years. The red and white rings aren't equally spaced apart and the star's points in the center do not extend to the edge of the inner circle unlike most of the comics, which bugs me. Again, you can always swap the shield with other versions of the figure (my preference is the "Face Off" Toy Biz version which is larger and has perfectly sized rings and a sharper design). If I could give the figure 4.5 stars I would, but as it stands I have it at 4. The stiff ball jointed shoulders, problematic shoulder straps (which should've been attached to the shield) and lack of eagle feather chest design prevent him from being perfect, but this figure comes extremely close! A great buy for the price and a must-have for any fan of the character or the Avengers.
