Great book with good historical background. Bought for class.beautiful, important, heartbreaking. A treasure of an Epic play. The book that I chose to read about was Angels in America. Tony Kushner was born in Manhattan July 16, 1956. Growing up Kushner attended Columbia University and received a degree in medieval literature. Later on Kushner attended New York University and obtained a M.F.A. for writing and producing plays. One of his biggest plays was “Angels in America, Millennium Approaches.” Overall I think this book was very good if you like reading about adventures things. The thing I like best about this book is how Tony Kushner kept you on the edge of your seat. Some of the main characters in this book was very interesting. Louis Ironson is a word process that works for the federal appeal court. His main issue in this play is that he changed from being a careless person to becoming very sincere. Although Louis has changed he still struggles with caring and empathizing for his spouse. Another main character in this wonderful play is Prior Walter who has a lot of problems. Although Prior has a handful of problems, his main problem is that he is dealing with the Aids virus. The main conflict in this play is how everyday people deal with problems in life.I think Angels in America was and still is a popular book because it is relatable to the real world. Although the book kept you on the edge, it also made you really think about things. For example the couples in this play deal with a lot of infidelity and jealousy. In the real world most couples deal with the same thing and most of them can relate. With the Aids virus many people in the world have a very hard time dealing with things and I thought it was very cool to have some real life situation put into a play. It’s also popular because like myself I’m not a fan of reading a lot. This play changed my whole view of reading. It kept me wanting to read more and more because it was that interesting. There were a lot of strengths that Tony Kushner made awesome in this play. The strength that amazed me was how he portrayed the characters and their personalities. My favorite character in this play is Harper Pitt who is the wife of one of the main characters in the play. The reason I enjoyed her is because she had funny hallucinations and she imagined talking to different people. Although one of her hallucinations caused her to question her marriage about her husband being gay, I enjoyed her presence in this play. The only weakness that I discovered is that it was very pacey. When I read something I want to know the beginning, middle, and the end of the story. In this play it talked about one thing and before you know it’s on a different topic. I didn’t like this because it kept me wondering what happened in the previous play while reading something totally different. In conclusion, I really enjoyed reading parts of this book. This book made me realize that you shouldn’t let things get you down. It may be the worst thing in the world but you just have to live with it. It also made me realize that everyone doesn’t feel the same way you may feel about them. Tony Kushner is good at what he does and I hope he continue to write more plays like this. Even though this book had its differences, I will still continue to read more of Tony Kushner’s plays. Two plays in one. A landmark piece about HIV in the 90sexcellentI love the book. You have to read these plays if you have the slightest interest in theatre. The dialogue is unparalleled in its humanity, the crises and the conflicts not only highlight a feeling that defined the end of the 20th century, it also mirrors our existential dread today. In my eyes. The best play I have ever read/come across. The style, the way it is written, the techniques, the plot...all of it is amazing. It is funny, quite rude in a lot of places but also shows the importance of political matters during the time in which this play is set.I have used this play so many times and fallen in love with it. If you love the TV series, you'll love this. If you love this, you'll love the TV Series. Cannot physically fault this play.
