To many outsiders, any mention of Notre Dame brings to mind Fighting Irish football. More players from Notre Dame have won the coveted Heisman Trophy than from any other university. This captivating narrative chronicles the era of Coach Knute Rockne and other acclaimed coaches, including Frank Leahy, Ara Parseghian, and Lou Holtz, and outstanding players like George “The Gipper” Gipp, the Four Horsemen, Angelo Bertelli, Johnny Lujack, Paul Hornung, John Huarte, Terry Hanratty, Joe Theismann, Raghib “Rocket” Ismail, and Chris Zorich, among others. Bursting with fun-filled facts, stats, and accounts of memorable games, this informational text conveys through particular details that Notre Dame is truly legendary among America’s most winning football teams. The volume offers poignant sidebars on Notre Dame’s celebrated football figures and a timeline.

Know what you are buying. I purchased this as a potential gift thinking it was a book listing details of some of Notre Dame's specific winning teams. It is instead a magazine-sized 48-page summary of materials that can be found easily on the Web. And the last seven pages are a glossary of general terms and a list of generic web links. It is NOT comprehensive and it is NOT a description of the Notre Dame's winning teams. It reads like a collection of brief magazine articles. It is well-written, the photographs are high quality, and the the printing is high quality. But this item is not at all what I expected for the price.
