I have always had a soft spot for this band ever since I first saw them at ProgDay back in 1997. These guys love what they do and it shows in their performances. I have always thought that Ken Archer was one of the more underrated keyboard players out there and I have always enjoyed Mark Benson's guitar style. The band's lyrics can be a bit hit and miss, but I like Benson's voice and overall enjoy what they do. On this album the band is a 3 piece of keys, guitar, and drums. I like this album a lot. The album opens with the 9 minute plus "Mirage" which is one of my favorites. I also like "Pierce The Hide" which is one of the only reggae prog songs that I am aware of. The title track "In A Safe Place" is another good one. There are also several strong instrumentals on the album written by keys man Archer. "Smooth", "Machu Picchu", and the 13 minute plus "Monads" are all great. Overall this is not their best album, but it is the one that introduced me to the band and I still really enjoy listening to it.
