This rug is 100% polyester, and feels silky soft under your toes. The microfiber piles are 1 inch in height, and are like cushions. It's still brand new, so I can't say how long until the rugs flattens out. It claims to be soil and stain resistant. I haven't had any spills yet. It's a nice runner. You're paying for the softness. Hopefully, durability as well. I haven't had any rug pieces come out yet, not even when I vacuumed.
